IWEA Annual Spring Conference 2020

19th & 20th March

IWEA Annual Spring Conference 2020

The IWEA Spring Conference will take place on  19th and 20th March 2020 Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin 4.  This is a two day conference with gala dinner on the evening of Thursday 19th March.

With over 500 delegates attending this annual conference, the IWEA Spring Conference is Irelands largest renewable conference.

This year, at Spring Conference, we are celebrating another milestone as our installed capacity in the Republic broke 4 GW. Across the island we are just short 5.5 GW.

And this wasn’t the only record to fall. A third of our electricity came from wind last year, two-dozen new wind farms were connected and the system-wide wind energy record was broken again.

Together, over the last two decades, we have built Ireland’s leading indigenous renewable energy industry, employing thousands of people, reducing our CO2 emissions by more than 3 million tonnes a year and, just in 2018, cutting Ireland’s fossil fuel import bill by a staggering €430 million.

But it is not enough. We can, we will and we must do better.

That is why the theme of Spring Conference is Beyond 4 GW. Ten years from now either our industry will have doubled in size or Ireland will miss our Climate Action Plan 70 per cent renewable electricity target.

We will succeed or this country will use more fossil fuels and emit more CO2 into a burning world. The stakes are exactly that high.

This year’s Spring Conference will set the agenda for our industry as we look Beyond 4 GW. We will not simply celebrate what we have achieved; we will decide what we will become.

Leaders of our industry will join policymakers and experts to discuss how we can plan better, build faster and connect more securely. We will agree how, from a standing start, we will build an entire offshore wind industry in less than ten years.

And we will look beyond our own industry at how we engage with local communities and support the electrification of heat and transport.

You can ensure your voice is heard in those discussions by joining us at IWEA Spring Conference 2020.
